Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Mila and I had the morning to ourselves and were working on a card...until the crayons became food.

Like I said before, Mila and I had the morning to ourselves as Em was out running the Kirkland Half-Marathon. Em and our friend Margo had been training for this for a while now and, as one of my scouts along the course stated, they were "running like the wind!" I'm very proud of Em for accomplishing this and I think the next one is in the works already. Here is Em and Margo post-race and along the finish line. Also, one shot of Mila watching intently.

This weekend featured more amazing weather and the water table is slowly becoming a destination. Mila also discovered that amongst the weeds, there are actually some flowers in the backyard.

Careful where you leave your shoes in our house and don't be surprised where you might find them. That is all.

When Mila "accidentally" pours out the contents of her sippy cup onto her high-chair tray, she can sit there and splash the water over and over and over and over (you get the idea). So Em being the eagle eyed shopper that she is (thanks Lou!) found a water table thing at Costco. Today was the perfect day to test it out as tomorrow is most likely going to be the hottest day of the year (to date). Here is Mila in the backyard splishing and splashing.

Saturday was a big day as we had a day game for the Sounders. Mila got ready by having her first doughnut. It was a Top Pot Old-Fashioned. Uncle Nate would be proud at her selection.

We have a new neighborhood block-watch commander...Mila. Now she loves to have her high-chair turned around, props her water bottle on the ledge and keeps an eye for anyone and anything that goes by. Mainly she just barks at the dogs that walk by.

Then there is Mila just being cute as a button and keeping a close eye on her new water bottle (which she loves...thanks Betsy!).

Hopefully the weather is turning for the better and there will be more outside shots of Mila. :-)

Mila has decided that it's about time to take the mobility game to another level...literally. It kind of freaks you out the first time you don't hear anything and you turn around and she's standing on the dining room chairs waving at you. It happens very quickly and silently. Ninja climber.

The bike is still very new and we like to ride it inside more than outside. Once outside there is just so much more space that needs exploring. So we hop on the bike for about 13 seconds and then she takes off running around with her helmet on. We're still figuring it out but it's pretty funny.

She also still enjoys her usual places to hang out and read or play with toys. One is the basket like this:

The other is "her" kitchen drawer, like this:

I'll have to check the weight rating on those drawers because at Mila's last appointment we found out that she packed on 4 pounds the last 4 months. Back into the 50% percentile!

We also have our two top front teeth peeking through right now, so going forward we may have some toothy grins. :)

I'm not so sure we know what to do with ourselves...we're getting some good sun here in Seattle! Dust off the grill and get outside is the name of the game now. We decided to take full advantage of the sun and headed to Golden Gardens. Admittedly, I have not been down to Golden Gardens nearly enough (when I live so close) but Mila is a great reason to head down there. Problem is she takes off in a dead sprint towards the water. More on that later.

Now, I said it was sunny...not warm...so Mila is still bundled up a bit. Here she is in the field chasing who knows what, and eventually going after an unwatched soccer ball in the distance.

Once we made our way through the field, it was time to hit the beach. Like I said earlier, she runs downhill towards the water and will not stop unless you stop her. It's awesome. Dad made the mistake of throwing a rock in the water (I can't help myself!) and Mila didn't waste any time picking up that new trick. I was more interested in which hand she was using to throw the rocks. She didn't favor either left or right...but I'm watching. :)

This is the new thing. Getting into the spice drawer and stacking the spice jars on the kitchen floor carefully. So organized.

A few weeks back there was a local helmet fitting and giveaway put on by Children's Hospital. We decided to take advantage as we had recently purchased a push trike for Mila. Getting her to try on the helmet was near impossible, until one morning she decided that the helmet was pretty sweet. Now she wants to wear it whenever she sees it. This works out great for us. Here is Mila wearing her helmet on her push trike with her feet barely hitting the floor.

Sippy cups are all the rage. Here is Mila double-fisting a couple of sippy cups in her Sounders gear getting ready for the game.

We had a surprise visit from Aunt Mia and her friend Amanda this afternoon...and they brought CUPCAKES. If Mila's sweet tooth is anything like her dads, then Mia is quickly understanding how to make Mila's best day ever.

After the cupcakes, Mila got a quick lesson in sub-compact Italian cars. A little soon to be behind the wheel but the Fiat is almost just her size. ;)

Thanks Aunt Mia for coming over and playing today!
